Wheel spacers give more stability and improve handling of your ATV in any riding conditions: adding width up front will improve your stability, adding width in the rear will improve your cornering ability. Wheel spacers cost a lot less than wider A-arms or wide axles, and are also much easier to fit. They do not require drilling or other modifications, just bolt on.
