The purpose of thermal underwear in offroad is to stay warm in winter and cold in summer. To achieve this, you have to stay dry. Human body, when it heats up, will try to regulate its temperature by perspiring. But outer offroad garment isn’t designed to deal with the moisture. Too much moisture can result in a wet core, which evaporates and cool down with result of heat loss and losing insulation properties.
